Would You Qualify To Be An Australian Citizen?

The Australian citizenship test was first applied in 2007, and revised in 2009 (tightened). You can try out practise tests Here. I think a basic motivation for setting up the test is to ensure that those applying for citizenship can read and write basic English. The majority of us can already do that, but would we pass the test?

  1. I think that is a great question. would born Australian pass the test? I can tell you for sure the can't.
I'm from Portugal and acquire citizenship not that long ago. I work in a bank, so I started asking my customers and my coworkers the same questions I was studying from. I can tell you that only the 30% could answer the first question, the second had a lower correct answer rate. Why me as an immigrant have to know more about Aussie than people born here?

Ridiculous. I even bought a question package just to make sure I pass the test. I was in a hurry....

  2. Hey there Robert.

I'm interested in what you said about getting a questions package. Where did you get it?

  3. Yves,

You can get the package from The Department of Immigration. The link is in my post.

    Robert,

I don't think most Aussies would even pass a test on who the current Governor-General is.
